The Stealth is the extreme lightweight fly designed for those that travel light & fast. This fly will not take up room in the pack meaning you don't need to leave that change of undies at home ever again. Complete with reinforced guy points, reflective guy cord and built in carry bag. Tarp Weight (no ropes): 558gms / 20oz Weight (no packaging/cram bag): 23gms Packaged Weight: 670gms / 24oz. This product is not seam sealed and silicone liquid seamseal will need to be applied (please see additional info on fabric for more information).

Fabric Technology:

This fabric is not seam sealed and liquid seamseal will need to be applied to make waterproof.

We use Silicone Nylon or its common name "sil nylon" in the Stealth Tarp. Because its fibres are infused in a coating of silicone, this fabric is both stronger and lighter than traditional tent fabrics. Since silicone is inert, it has the added benefit that it will never mold or mildew. The tight bond between the coating and fabric yarn insures that unlike traditional polyurethane coated fabrics, it will never delaminate. This makes it the premium fabric for lightweight shelters.

The downside is that seam tapes designed to work on polyurethane coated fabrics will not stick to silicone nylon. This requires you hand seal the seams. In order to seam seal silicone nylon, you need a liquid silicone based sealer. The silicone in the sealer will form a permanent bond with the silicone in the fabric. Once seam sealed, your Stealth Tarp will last for years.

buy the bomber fly not this

bought one saw that it requires seam sealing (which shoulda been done at factory considering the bomber fly is larger fully seam sealed and $30 cheaper) but i cannot seal the seams as the DWR coating is repelling the Gear Aid seam sealer

Hi Doug, thanks for reaching out. Just checking, as the Stealth Fly has a silicone treatment on both sides of the fabric, unlike the Drone or Bomber which only have it on the face. Did you use a silicone-based liquid seam sealer such as SeamGrip SIL from Gear Aid? The reason we don’t seam seal the Stealth Fly, and why we use a double-silicone fabric, comes down to weight, sag, and dry time. PU coating is considerably heavier than silicone, and PU also suffers from hydrolysis. This is where water is slowly absorbed into the coating, which can make the fabric heavier, slow drying times, and, if not stored completely dry, potentially cause delamination over time. The double-silicone fabric used in the Stealth Fly will stay taut even after a long, wet weekend. You can flick it dry and pack it straight back into the storage bag. It’s also more compact and lightweight, which suits those looking to minimise pack size and weight. That said, this isn’t what everyone wants from a fly, which is why we also offer the Drone and the Bomber as alternative options. Cheers, Stoney Creek

Great job producing the best lightweight fly on the market. Only 670gms packed. I gave it a seam seal & this fly now travels everywhere in my day bag. For those days when it’s easier to throw up a fly to dodge heavy rain and enjoy a brew. If I’m fishing near camp, it covers my tent to keep the Kea at bay and to provide a larger dry footprint at basecamp. It’s as important as my rod and reel for backcountry trips!

This is a nice affordable lightweight tarp. It’s well made, and kept us dry during unexpected downpours. It slept 2 of us comfortably and is big enough to use with a hammock also.

Big fan of the SC Stealth Fly. Its always good knowing I've got some decent shelter to rely on in pack no matter what the conditions are. Great for overnighters or multiday hunts. Its super Light, packs down real small. The reinforced corners, tension rings and long guides means you can tighten her up for maximum water shedding and stability in windy conditions. SC has taken the traditional Fly and sharpened it right up!
